SAT Test Preparation – SAT 1

About SAT 1:

The SAT is a globally recognized college admission test that lets you show colleges what you know and how well you can apply that knowledge. It tests your knowledge of reading, writing and math — subjects that are taught every day in high school classrooms.

The New SAT is scored on a scale of 200-1600 and is typically taken by high school juniors and seniors. The test is administered several times a year.

Format of the New SAT (2016):

Sec 1: Reading Test (52 Questions, 65 Minutes)
Sec 2: Writing and Language Test (44 questions, 35 Minutes)
Sec 3: Math Test – No Calculator (20 Questions, 25 Minutes)
Sec 4: Math Test – With Calculator (38 Questions, 55 Minutes)
SAT Essay - Optional (50 minutes)

Key Differences in the New SAT (2016):

  • More emphasis on reading in context
  • 4 options in MCQs (instead of 5)
  • No Negative Marking
  • Score out of 1600 (Reading + Writing = 800 / Math = 800)
  • Essay is optional (and completely different)
  • No sentence completions (vocabulary is still important)
  • One math section is without calculators
  • Fewer “Logic-based” math questions
  • Data analysis in the verbal sections

Important Note:

Both SAT 1 & SAT 2 are offered internationally several times a year. The following changes have been made to the international testing schedule:

In June 2017, only the SAT 2 (Subject Tests) will be administered internationally. SAT 1 will NOT be offered in June 2017.

In the 2017–18 and 2018–19 school years, SAT 1 will be available internationally ONLY in October, December, March, and May.

SAT Subject Tests will be available in October, November, December, May, and June.

Our SAT Preparation Program

With years of experience in teaching SAT, we have perfected our methods for preparing students. Students have an option of joining either our Classroom Based Format SAT Preparation or our trademark Individual Test Preparation.

Classroom Based Format

Our classroom based SAT preparation is a Two-and-a-half month course, with a total of 80 hours of classroom based lectures. We offer four to five weekly classes and administer 6 full-length SAT tests towards the end of the course. Extra emphasis is paid to improving students' abilities in Reading abilities, Grammar and Essay Writing.

All students do a full actual SAT Diagnostic Test at the beginning of the course. Based on the scores of this Diagnostic Test, we develop a study program to allow for variances in learning ability and use it to measure each student's progress on a regular basis.

Classes start every month from July onwards, and we advise all our students to give themselves at least 3-months to prepare comprehensively for the exam. To learn about our latest SAT Courses starting dates, please call us at our phone numbers given at the bottom of the page.

Individual Test Preparation Format

Students appearing for the SAT in May or June or those with specific requirements may join our individual test preparation. This preparation is based on a unique preparation time-table (referred to as the PCR) prepared for each student keeping in mind his/her individual requirements.

Each student starting the SAT preparation is required to appear in a full-length actual SAT Diagnostic Test. The weighted scores of this test determine the time to be given to each study module. Thus, for instance, a student scoring high on the Mathematics section will have to spend less time in attaining a high score. However, if his/her Critical Reading or Writing diagnostic score is low, the program will allow more time on these modules.

Classes are held thrice a week, and the recommended time period is three-months, providing students with approx 80 hours of preparation time in addition to 6 full-length SAT tests administered towards the end of the course. If a student is free of commitments and can study 5-6 hours a day in addition to the classes, or if a student is very quick in picking up, the preparation time can be reduced to 2 months, or 1 ½ months with double-shift study.

Our Teaching Methods
Our tutors are equipped with the most modern and student-friendly techniques of teaching Mathematics and English. The class environment is conducive to effective learning where students learn to interact with and benefit from each other. Both preparation formats are followed up with regular weekly testing.

Our materials have been chosen from the best sources in the world, and we are able to provide students with extra materials for any section that they may be relatively weak at.

We also assist students in registering for the SAT and if need be, guide them on filling college applications.

Our SAT Classes are offered at all of our branches.
