SSE offers a four-year undergraduate program leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in one of the following six majors: Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Physics.

It also offers MS & PhD programs in Computer Science and Computer Engineering.

Undergraduate Admissions

Eligibility
Applicants who have completed FA/FSc, A’ Levels, High School Diploma, or IB must satisfy any one of the following academic qualifications:

  • Matric (with at least 60% marks) and FA (with at least 60% marks) / FSc (with at least 65% marks)
  • O’ Levels results (in at least 6 subjects) & Advanced Level (at least 2 Bs and 1 C grade in three principal subjects such that there should be no more than 1 C grade and no grade less than a C across three principal subjects in the A' Level examination). No credit will be given for any Advanced Subsidiary, General Paper.
  • American High School Diploma (at least 80% or an average B grade)
  • International Baccalaureate (at least 30 or above points out of 45)
  • Any other equivalent qualification (minimum acceptable scores will be determined by the Admissions Committee). The decision of the Admissions Committee will be final.

Admission Tests:

1) LCAT
The LUMS Common Admission Test (LCAT) is mandatory for all applicants (except applicants residing abroad) applying to the Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB) or the School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Law (SHSSL). The LCAT for admission to the Fall 2011 semester will be held ONLY ONCE on February 12, 2012 at the designated cities.

The LCAT The LCAT consists of seven (7) sections all of which are compulsory. The first two sections (one Verbal and one Math) are 30 minutes each. The remaining five sections are 25 minutes each with two Verbal sections, two Math sections with the 5th 25-minute section being either a Verbal or a Math section.

The LCAT is a multiple choice test similar to the SAT I in terms of the type of questions. Like the SAT I, it measures reading, writing, and mathematics skills. The LCAT does NOT have an essay section.

LCAT Preparation
The LCAT Prep classes at Anees Hussain start on November 8th 2010. The preparation will cover the entire length of the LCAT test content, and also includes full length test practice. Since LUMS does not allow calculators in the test, we teach students methods to complete calculations accurately without the use of calculators in the class. Vocabulary and grammar building exercises are also included to ensure that students perform well in the sentence completions and sentence correction questions. Extensive materials from the best test prep sources are employed to ensure complete coverage. To join our LCAT courses, please call immediately on the numbers given below.

2) SSE Test
The SSE Admission Test is mandatory for all applicants (except applicants residing abroad) applying to the LUMS School of Science and Engineering (SSE). The SSE Admission Test for admission to the Fall 2011 semester will be held ONLY ONCE on February 11, 2012.

The test consists of five (5) sections. The first section (Basic Math) is compulsory. From the remaining four Subject Sections you may attempt any three of your choice. If you attempt all four, the best three will count towards your final score.

Applicants residing outside Pakistan and currently studying or having completed their last year of schooling abroad are required to submit official results of the SAT Reasoning Test (SAT I) and at least 3 of the 4 SAT II subjects listed below:
- Biology-M
- Chemistry
- Mathematics II-C
- Physics

Applicants residing outside Pakistan and currently studying or having completed their last year of schooling abroad need to take all required SAT tests through College Board, USA latest by January 28, 2012 in order to be considered for admission. SAT scores must be reported to LUMS officially from the testing agency.

SSE Test Preparation
The SSE Test Prep classes at Anees Hussain will start on December 1st 2010. The preparation will cover the entire length of the SSE test content, and also includes full length test practice. The course is taught by subject experts in Math, Physics, Chemistry and Biology who ensure that students are adequately prepared for the actual SSE test. Graduate Admissions - MBA

Eligibility
Applicants to the LUMS MBA program are assessed on the following criteria:

  • A minimum of sixteen years of education resulting in a Masters or Bachelors degree from an Higher Education Commission recognized University. Candidates holding only a bachelors degree of less than four years duration will be required to produce an Higher Education Commission equivalence certificate of completion of 16 years of education.
  • Entrance Test (GMAT or LMAT). The LMAT will be valid for two years
  • Work experience (preferred but not compulsory)
  • Interview performance
  • There are no age restrictions
  • Applicants for the Executive MBA Program must have work experience (at least 8 years of full time work experience with five years of experience at a managerial position)

The Admissions Office will first review the applications to ensure that candidates meet the above requirements. After the review, the Admissions Committee will shortlist the candidates for interviews. The final decision will be taken after the interview.

Admission Test
For admission to the MBA program, a student must appear in the GMAT or the LMAT (LUMS’ version of the GMAT). Students are prepared on a regular basis for both these tests, and many of our students have gained admission to LUMS. Our program includes interview preparation. If you want to prepare for the LMAT or the GMAT, call one of our centers now and appear in a free diagnostic test. All LMAT and GMAT students are prepared on an individual basis, so you can join immediately. Ideal preparation time is 3 months. However, if you have less time available, we can still help you improve your scores significantly.
