About LUMS
The Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) is
a national university, established by sponsors belonging
to the country’s leading private and public sector
corporations.
The University has built a credible reputation and
has expanded rapidly since its establishment. It has
three schools: Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB),
School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) and
School of Science and Engineering (SSE).
Suleman
Dawood School of Business (SDSB)
The Business School was the first school established
at the Lahore University of Management Sciences in 1986.
It offers a two-year MBA, and a two-year Executive MBA,
in addition to a PhD in Management. It also provides
executive development education through its Executive
Administrator Development Center (EDC). At the Bachelors
level, the SDSB offers a BSc (Hons) in Accounting &
Finance - a four-year program.
School
of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS)
The School of Humanities and Social Sciences was formed
on July 1, 2006. It comprises three departments: Economics,
Law and Policy, and Social Sciences. These departments
were previously part of the School of Arts and Sciences
which has now given way to two new schools: the School
of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS), and the School
of Science and Engineering (SSE).
SHSS offers a four-year BSc (Honors) degree, a five-year
degree in Law and Policy (BA-LLB) and a one-year MSc
degree in Economics. Majors in Economics and Social
Sciences are offered by the SHSS. From the academic
year 2006 – 2007 two new majors have been introduced,
one in Economics and Mathematics by the Economics department
and the Mathematics department jointly, and the other
in Politics and Economics by the Social Sciences department
and the Economics department jointly.
School
of Science and Engineering (SSE)
The School of Science and Engineering (SSE) will start
in Fall 2008 with new undergraduate programs in Physics,
Chemistry, Biology, Electrical Engineering and Industrial
Engineering/Operations Research following within four
years by graduate programs in each discipline. In September
2008 SSE will also inherit the existing mathematics
and computer science/engineering undergraduate and graduate
programs at LUMS.
